Our new flock of 9 Wiltshire Horn sheep. You can see where they get their name from. The breed is very hardy and sheds its wool when it needs to, so no shearing for this lot ever. Popular on the Wiltshire Downs in the 18th Century, the breed lost popularity in the 19th Century as the emphasis was moved to wool producing sheep. The breed almost became extinct but a society formed in 1923 to protect it and encourage breeding and it has now made a comeback.
