The recent liquidation of Lindstrand Balloons in April 2015 was a very sad event for us at Adventure Balloons after working closely with them on many features to improve balloon design since 1993. However we were lucky enough to be successful in our bidding to buy their beautiful Union Jack hot air balloon at the auction this month from the remaining equipment at their Oswestry factory. This is a very small two passenger balloon, the same size that the company started with in 1985. It is ideal for exclusive flights for patriots or for television filming, flying out of events etc. We hope to have a lot of fun with this balloon and the Union Jack design is steeped in history. The first flight in a balloon made in this country in 1784 by the Italian Vincenzo Lunardi was purportedly in a balloon with a Union Jack design, a choice chosen to increase the sponsorship of the flight.
