We have had some great balloon flights in July. Here are a few particularly special ones for the passengers involved.
For Joy Dawes it was one of those big "0" birthdays that she decided to celebrate with family and friends. After initially booking for 12, after the flight was cancelled the first time due to weather on the first date she booked, Joy was undeterred and added a further 4 passengers to the group to fill one of our 16 passenger balloons with HAPPY BIRTHDAY on the side. "It was great to have our family group together in one balloon, with Happy Birthday on it, and we even got to see our own house from a distance. The pilot and crew were fun, knowledgeable and shared their infective enthusiasm for ballooning".
Ali Waldron planned to propose to Katie months before he flew with us. Ali came to us from Bug A Gift who are one of the many agencies who use us to provide their balloon flights. Having contacted us in June to arrange a date for his exclusive balloon flight for two from our Hampshire launch site, he was surprised when the night before he was told the flight would be going ahead. "My friends told me that I would be cancelled lots of times because of the weather and the balloon flight would never happen.. But we were very lucky with the weather and managed to do it first time around, despite poor weather the evening before and the Farnborough Air Show starting by 8am on the day. Katie was genuinely surprised and after the flight we went to a local "greasy spoon" to celebrate with the pilot and crew. An exception to her normal regime of course because Katie is a local community nurse so tries to set a good example!" Chief pilot Kim Hull said "It was a pleasure to fly them and get them away on their first attempt and of course great that Katie said yes!"
